2022.01.24 16:40 CueNoLife We have a permanent DMM world....
Why can't we get some tech (which I'm sure is already there, but Jagex is probably unsure how to properly set it up, so it doesn't crash and burn) to allow for PERMANENT "Previous League" world(s).
They could start with five worlds and add or remove worlds based on popularity. The problem this arises is "We don't want to split our players", which I understand, however, money is also on the horizon. Having players play Leagues and potentially their mains, ironmen, etc. could mean more revenue (maybe?)
I could see it being troubling in "How do we merge XP" because each league is unique, and personally, I think you just overwrite game-saves after the NEXT league launches.
Ex. Current League is: Shattered Relics. We should be able to play Shattered Relics in competition NOW, and when it's over, continue our Shattered Relics progression until the next league, and onward. They implemented tech to save players pets, maybe they would find a way to save players items as well, and just overwrite stats, or something. It seems disgruntling to some players that they have to start over from scratch and lose EVERYTHING at the end.
If DMM can have a permanent game-mode/world, why can't leagues?

2022.01.24 16:40 cthompsonguy BotC as a teambuilding exercise
I work in the IT department of a small college. Over winter break, I had a large game of BotC to which I invited a senior member of my team at work, and though he was unable to attend, he suggested approaching the department for an after-work game as a teambuilding exercise. The theme was a concern of course, but bossman gave it a thumbs up and some of the department jumped in. It's mostly just my team of nerds, but a few people from other teams within the department will be joining us.
It's scheduled for this Friday evening, and we have 7 coworkers joining, most of them with 1-3 family (wives, a few middle/high school kids) joining as well. We're running Trouble Brewing of course, and I've been Storyteller for that script about 20 times now, so I'm relatively confident, but this will be the first time I've had a group consisting almost entirely of people who haven't played any social deduction before. Thankfully, one coworker and my wife (who will also be playing) have played 20+ games and can help answer questions while I'm building the bag and whatnot.
Does anyone have any recommendations for Storytelling such a novice group? My usual process in which we have at least one new player is to read the intro (basics of social deduction, hand signals, the 4 cardinal rules, nomination process) and run through all of the characters on the script quickly.

I'm building a database of snake images, the issue I'm having is that I'm working with old photocopies of textbooks. So what I want to extract all the images separately into jpeg files without the text. Is there a tool or function through Acrobat or another program that would let me do this?

2022.01.24 16:40 Roll4Criticism Intel DCH Graphics Drivers via Software Center
Anyone have any luck pushing these? My org has a decent chunk of laptops that we've deployed with no issues, only to find out after the fact a streaming camera software we use throughout the org that has worked for forever on desktops doesn't work on the laptops. A bit of digging, find out we have the "legacy" Intel graphics chips, and the software is fixed by manually running the Intel executable DCH driver suite. I can even manually run via cmd line silently, and it works great. Try to run via Software Center? Dies every time. Made it a package, a script installer, fails 100% of the time. I've deployed lots of software over my limited time as the SCCM guy here and had no issues I couldn't eventually resolve, but this one has me scratching my head.
Anyone got a way to push these DCH drivers beyond Intel's executable, or has created a package that works and can share?

2022.01.24 16:40 Night-Monkey15 Theory: The Skrulls aren’t the villains in Secret Invasion
In Spider-Man: Far From Home Talos’ disguised as Fury, says “I thought Kree having sleeper cells was top secret information”. Because of this line, I believe that instead of of the Skrulls being the villains of Secret Invasion it’s the Kree, who are conducting a “Secret Invasion” though sleeper cells on Earth.
The reason I think Marvel Studios would do this is because their version of the Skrulls were used an allegory for immigrants, I can’t see them trying to pull a Red Scare type thing with them because of this. Instead they’ll use the oppressive government instead.
